If you are a regular golfer avoid Bent Creek. There is a lack of maintenance on the course. The front nine has ridiculously high rough and all the greens are full of crabgrass. This course has the worst greens I've played in the state. Do yourself a favor and go play Andrew Johnson in Greenville instead. It's a 75 minute drive for me but they have been in the best shape of all the courses I played in East TN.
OK I am an 11 handicap and play over 200 times a year all over the country. On a scale of 1-10 this course is a 1. First of all $49 to play and there are horrible tee boxes, fairways, greens, bunkers and no restaurant. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. When we arrived for our 8:30 Tee time there was on one car in the parking lot. I found this to be very strange and should have taken the cue but I didn't. I can deal with the little things like no ice water to drink. Only bottled water with no ice. I cannot enjoy a golf course that has rough that is 8 inches high around the greens. i cannot enjoy playing a golf course where there are large mud holes on the green with mower tracks in them. (Photos provided) I cannot enjoy golf when trying to putt on greens that have 5 different grasses 4 of which are weeds that have been growing for a long time. This course is in horrible condition. No way should they charge $49 for this track. In Texas we call this type of course a goat field. About all it is good for is feeding goats. I know the course probably can't do anything about the gnats and mosquitoes. When I say they are horrible i am not exaggerating. When you try to swing you are attacked in the nose, eyes ears and all around your head by hundreds if not thousands of gnats while the mosquitoes chomp away at your arms and legs. We actually thought about quitting and asking for a refund. The back nine is an interesting layout that would be a lot of fun if it was not in such bad condition. How about a par 3 that you have to climb 40 steps straight up a mountain to hit an 118 yard shot. Be sure to take a handful of clubs the walk back down is pretty hard also. To make matters worse when we made the turn a new foursome was teeing off on number 10 backing up 4 groups on the tee box even though the front was virtually vacant. Remember me saying there was one car in the parking lot?
It’s that time again. Time for me to bring my family to visit Bent Creek. Only, this year, sadly enough, I am just bringing my mother and brother. In May of this year my sweet daddy passed away. I cry just typing this email because he has been my travel partner to Gatlinburg for the last 44 years. We are going to miss him something fierce this year but I know he is going to be with us in spirit. Daddy was always the first to get out of the car when we arrived at Bent Creek so he could get into the office and get his freebie. He loved the little bear shaped bottles you gave out for the last few years. So, with that being said, this year I am bringing my mother and brother so the 3 of us can spend some quality time together in one of your sweet cabins. We have never stayed in one of those before so we are excited.. Mamma lives alone now in Harrisburg, NC. Todd, my brother, lives with his family in Weaverville, NC and I live with my family in Gastonia NC. I decided we should leave everyone else behind so we can take this time to reflect on Daddy and somehow find joy celebrating his life. My daughter, Jennifer and her daughter (Shelby) come every year when I have brought Mamma and Daddy. She graciously sat this one out so we could do this. I tell you all of this to say “Thank you” for always, every year, making our trip up there so wonderful. You will never begin to know how many precious memories we have made with Daddy on our visits there and for that I will forever be grateful. As a Diamond Resort Member, I have to say your resort is my favorite out of all that we have visited over the years. Thank you for the memories and we look forward to making more in the years to come. I have attached a photo of a trip 2 years ago.

We booked a foursome here. The staff we met was friendly and helpful. The front nine wasn't special, but the back has a few holes that are a lot of fun. A few of the greens and fairways had large puddles the appeared to have been there awhile. Overall we had a good time.
